I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord who made heaven and earth."

Psalm 121 teaches us to have confidence in God, realizing He is a God of all sufficiency. It deals with trust in God for help in time of trouble. Thank God, the creator of heaven and earth is our ever present help in time of need. We don't look to another; we look only to Him. We know where our help comes from; our help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. He made the world out of nothing, by speaking a word; nothing is too hard for our God.

Verses 3 and 4 say "He will not suffer thy foot to be moved; He that keepeth thee will not slumber nor sleep."

He never did. He never will. He is never weary. He not only does not sleep; but He does not so much as slumber; He does not have the least inclination to sleep. Praise God! He is our stability in times of touble. His tremendous power is available both day and night. No matter what we are going through, He is more than enough; His power is sufficient. God Himself has undertaken to be our protector!

Verse 5 - "The Lord is thy keeper; the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand."

He not only protects those whom he is the keeper of, but He refreshes us; He is our shade. He speaks comfort to His own, promises to be our shadow, to keep as close to us as the shadow does to the body, and to shelter us from the scorching heat, as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land.

"And a man (Jesus) shall be as an hiding place from the wind, and a covert (a place of refuge from windstorms) from the tempest; as rivers of water in a dry place, as a shadow of a great rock in a weary land." Isaiah 32:2.

We can sit under His shadow with delight and assurance.

"As the apple tree among the trees of the wood, so is my beloved among the sons. I sat down under His shadow with great delight, and His fruit was sweet to my taste. He brought me to the banqueting house, and His banner over me is love." Song of Solomon 2:3,4.

His love is ever present, and He is always near to us for our protection and refreshment. He is never at a distance, never far to seek. The right hand is the working hand; whatever we set our hand to; God is ready to assist us and give us success.

"I have set the Lord before me; because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved." Ps. 16:8.

Verse 7 - "The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil; He shall preserve thy soul."

The soul is the seat of the emotion, the will, and theintellect. He will preserve our emotions, our wll and our intellect when we keep our minds stayed upon Him.

Verse 8 - "The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore."

He will continue His care over us from this time forth and even forevermore; it is a protection for life, never out of date. God will protect His church and His saints always, even to the end of the worly. The Spirit, who is our preserver and comforter, will abide with us forever.

Take comfort in His Word today. God is ever available, ever powerful and ever able to meet your needs!
